As a World Wrestling Federation (WWF) performer, Bruce Daniels was known for his high-energy ring entrances, which featured him racing into the arena at full speed, bursting into the ring, and violently shaking the ropes up and down. He was also known for his distinctive pattern of face paint.
OK, so he’s not the Ultimate Warrior… but he’s a warrior behind the scenes at the Range. Bruce is the General Manager and Program Director of The Range-FM, and enjoys waking up Rockyview every morning. The question is…who wakes him up that early? That would be his “much-better-half”, his fiance Phaedra. Bruce and Phaedra enjoy entertaining with family and friends and always have a cold beer in the fridge.
He was born in Winnipeg, although we try not to hold that against him. We also try and look past the fact that he considers Alfred Hitchcock one of his idols, along with Stampeder great, and radio sales guru Herm Harrison. Bruce holds Norm Edwards and Jim Ripley in high regard in the world of radio. Bruce hopes he can elevate himself into a position that he can retire to somewhere tropical. So, it’ll be another 40 or so years before we hear the last of Mr. Daniels.
Hardcore Sports Reporter, Arnie Jackson is a true Calgarian through and through! He was even born in the old Calgary General Hospital! He’s a visionary man who loves his sports, broadcasting a sporting event live on the radio among his top favorite things to do.
When he was a kid, he aspired to be The Dick Clark of Canada – hosting a national DJ Show and later a TV Sock Hop Show. It never happened… but here at The Range, we still encourage him to Twist and Shout his way to the top!
Arnie’s perfect Sunday includes sleeping in a little later than usual and then heading to church with family. Later they’d go out to a nice restaurant for Prime Rib with Horse Radish and take in an exciting Rodeo in the afternoon or go to a spectacular Chuckwagon race in the evening, do a few interviews and then write and voice my sports for Monday Morning for the RANGE with lots of strong local content.
Arnie’s a dedicated man – to his work, his life and most importantly, his family. We’re definitely privileged to have him here, on The Range team!
Marty Lawrence does not like rice pudding. Maybe it was his boyhood dream to become an airline pilot. Maybe it’s his love for the legends of rock. Whatever it is, it’s led him to a complete distaste for the dessert.
He was born in Toronto, but graduated from both SAIT and the University of Calgary, managing to pick up a Bachelor of Communications degree along the way. This has helped Marty break into the world of radio, which, as he points out, lets him entertain and hone his skills as a respected communicator. One day, Marty hopes to have his name in lights, as a character voice actor, on a major motion picture with either Pixar or Dreamworks, just in case anyone from those studios is reading.
Women seem to keep Marty in check. His better half, Adriana, and daughters Nicole, Zoey, and Reah keep his hands full at home. When he’s got a free moment from the estrogen, Marty keeps the beat for the band “Why Martin”, enjoys playing the guitar, running, reading, picking up a tennis racket, swimming, biking, and adding to his voice work resume.
Jeffrey always knew when he grew up, he’d be doing something that he loved, he just can’t choose between two lovers. Another SAIT alumni in the Radio discipline, Chad also has quite the talents behind a camera. In fact, the pictures you see on this page, for the most part, were taken by the Range’s young whipper snapper.
When not hanging out behind the mic, creating award winning commercials, working on his photography business, or hanging out with his family, Jeffrey enjoys playing a lot of sports. When we say a lot, we mean A LOT! You can mainly find him playing hockey, ice or floor, and on the tennis courts.
If there were to be a movie made about Jeffrey’s life, he’d prefer Ryan Reynolds to play the part, and some of the scenes would have to take place at his favourite restaurant, thee Olive Garden. Jeffrey is just your regular happy go lucky kind of guy, who says himself that he may never grow up.
If there’s one reason Rob Jamieson is in radio, it’s his family. After spending three years in the banking industry, fighting the itch for radio throughout that period of time, he was happy to come home to the industry that he loves, returning to the wacky world of Radio.
Rob graduated from the SAIT Radio program in 2004, learning from Steve Olson and Greg Spielman along the way. Rob considers Rodger Rhodes, among others as major influences in his decision to get into Radio. He’s grateful for all the opportunities he’s had since his first job as a promo “gopher” with Power 107, to his experiences in Red Deer and Calgary.
Ultimately it comes back to his family. Not only his wife Lindsay, and son Keaton, but his parents, and his brother, who have been with him, and supportive along the way. He enjoys playing hockey, working on the odd remix, and relaxing with a film or two every once and a while. Rob hopes his time at the Range is just the start of amazing things to come, not only for his career, but also… for his family.
If there’s one thing we can say about Donelda, it’s that she has an enormous heart. It’s so big, it could house the entire city of Airdrie. Not only was she a major player in making sure that the Airdrie Centennial Homecoming activities went off without a hitch, she makes sure the little things around the station are tickity-boo.
She enjoys coming into work, which she calls an “upbeat environment”. In fact, she sees herself in the same chair when you walk into the station, five years from now, unless of course, she’s traveling the world, experiencing amazing destinations like New Zealand, Spain, Africa, and Austrailia.
She’s a do-er, a go getter, efficient, organized, and a get it done now kind of person. The station would not be the same without Donelda. If you drive past the Range on any given day, and you see the building standing upright, and not on fire, we all have Donelda to thank.
Leave it to a sales guy to put down green as his favourite colour. What else would you expect from a Saskatchewan Roughrider fan? Robert may have been brought up just a little east from here, but he’s a transplanted Albertan, living with his Girlfriend Brenda, cat Lux, and dog Cooper.
Robert always wanted to be a DJ, but got lured to the dark side of sales, and he’s been a major part of the Range thanks to his negotiation skills. He even negotiated the words “Mashed Potatoes” into his bio, he’s that good.
You can find him on the links, when the season’s right, watching a little MMA, working out, and watching his beloved Riders in the CFL. Robert has also marked down handing out turkey buns to the homeless on Thanksgiving as one of the coolest things he’s ever done. But don’t tell the other sales guys in his office he’s actually a nice guy. He’s got cred to maintain.
